HDC MidAtlantic Establishes Action Plan for COVID-19 Response

LANCASTER, PA – HDC MidAtlantic (HDC) has developed a comprehensive plan to monitor and evaluate the risk of COVID-19 coronavirus exposure in all of our 58 housing communities. We are following guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)following protocols issued by state and local public health officials. Our number one priority is to protect the health and safety of residents in our communities and employees throughout our operations, and to limit the impact and risk of exposure.

Current measures being taken at all HDC communities include a focus on promoting good health habits as recommended by the CDC like proper hand-washing and staying home when sick, and enhanced cleaning procedures at our communitiesInformation on these habits and on COVID-19 is being posted in all communities and shared with all residents. Other resident safety steps being taken include encouraging personal preparedness planning, planning for resident welfare checks for highest risk individuals; and directing residents to call their doctors immediately if they are feeling sick and/or calling 911 in case of an emergency.

HDC’s action plan includes weekly task force meetings to assess new developments across the organization’s 16-county footprint in Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland, and to implement appropriate safety measures as needed. Currently no community-based activities or services have been canceled or modified. All staff are working at normal capacity on site. However, as local developments are changing rapidly, the task force is reassessing protocol on a daily basis and will implement additional measures as needed.

HDC’s action plan includes an array of advanced precautionary steps that can be implemented to minimize risk for both residents of our communities and for all staff on site and at our headquarters. These steps will be taken as deemed necessary, and in accordance with the CDC’s and local health officials’ guidance.

We will post any further updates on our website and on social media.
